Sheet Metal Magnetic? I realize that aluminum is not, so aluminum sheet metal is...
I realize that aluminum is not, so aluminum sheet metal is out. But it stands to reason that a steel derivative would be compelling.
I want to put a sheet on my garage ceiling and use magents to hold the shop lights in place so that they can be moved around as needed. I get some heavy duty magnets and know they will do the available job.
Anyone know for sure?
Answers: If the aluminum is very runny, it will work if you put the magnets on the opposite side of what you want to hold. In my shop, I use aluminum gutter cartridge stapled onto wood to hold computer hard drive magnets within place on my workbench. I can then stick my steel tools adjectives over the place so that they are in uncomplicated reach. The typical rugged drive magnet will hold about 75 pounds. All you inevitability is something to hold the magnet in place safe and sound. Thin sheet aluminum will work.
Regular zinc plated sheet metal either corregated or flat would work. It is steel so magnets would stick. You can also by galvanize flashing in yawning widths that would work as well and it comes surrounded by a roll.
