My kitchen is half-tiled with small (2 1/2 inch) tiles of a light-to-medium ginger colour. The tiles have no character at all - no texture, a moment ago flat and smooth. The grout is a faded grey.

The border tiles (one single line, not really fundamentally outstanding) are raisin and taupe, running along the top edge, just about halfway up the wall.

The walls are painted wispy yellow, which I contemplate was the wrong choice.

I can't re-tile, but I can repaint the walls.

Suggestions?

If your kitchen is big enough a thoughtful brick red colour would look great - unless you have reasonably dark unit then it might sort the whole kitchen perceive small and dark, but if your unit are a medium wood colour or even white/cream it will look great and have a feeling warm

Answers:    If the tile color is the problem, but replacing it is out of the question, there are companies that will refinish adjectives the tile to a more acceptable color. It's more commonly done surrounded by bathrooms, but I see no reason it can't be done surrounded by a kitchen. This will also cover all the grout beside the same color you choose for the tile. Check near your local home improvement store or your washed out pages.

If you want to lately paint the walls a better color, you might try matching the red in the tile near paint chips and then going several shades lighter for the wall paint within a peach or apricot tone. It should look well near dark cabinet. You might also try a wallpaper border at the ceiling of fall colored leaves or architectural swirls to tender the kitchen a Tuscan feel which is currently so popular.
