I have be given an antique chair which i would close to to restore. It's quite simple beside a small amount of detailing on the body.
On the seat however at hand is a pattern which is slightly engraved and have black marks on the outside of the lines - could it once hold been painted or stained black? If so how should i dance about trying to restore it.
Also, to complicate things within is a black cup ring on the seat lying on the pattern - is in that any way i could diminish that ?
Also, finally the stain on it have become much lighter in parts e.g. the pay for piece that you lean on - should i just try and touch that bit up or re-stain the adjectives thing ? (the legs are much dark than the back but just in parts)
thank you for any counsel anybody can give!
Answers: Sounds similar to the chair desires complete restripped and restained but if it is a valueable chair you should really not attempt this as it looses importance. With the cup ring you could try using a little grease and cigarette ash this sometimes takes away the cup rings. Perhaps you should return with professional advise just about the chair first.
