Ok, I am redecorating my bedroom. I've never painted the walls, and I am going to buy new quilt and furniture that match the walls and the rest of the room. Few questions:
1. Are Polka dots and stripes painted on walls"in" for teens?
2. If my walls have polkadots and stripes on them, would it be to much if my bedspread to have dots/stripes on it?
3.I be thinking if i do paint polkadots and stripes, here is what i would do:
on the wall my bed goes on(the main focus of the room) i will paint polka dots. on the other walls,I required to make a faux chair molding by sculpture stripes 1/3 up the way of the wall. and a long stripe horizontally on top of the vertical stripes. Would that work as a "faux" stool molding? or should i just leave out the horizontal stripe?

4.Is using a stencil the best route for polkadots?
Try some of these accepted wisdom from PBTeen. They tend to lean twoards polka dots and stripe themes, too.

You can get some upright ideas from here!

Hope this Helps!
personally, i focus polka dots and stripes is TOO much! and i am a teen. i would do either or.
I would do dots OR stripes on all walls except the wall your bed is on. if you do that, yes you can enjoy dots/stripes on your bed spread. to do the dots, stencil is best, unless you dont mind the shape, it would also look cute to splatter paint! good luck!

can you help my room ?: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
Answers:    From what I've read polka dots and stripes (separately) are definitely a trend.

I see no reason you can't mix the two if it's done correctly.

I would not formulate ALL the walls have a pattern. I reflect on painting the wall behind your bed polka dot is a cool belief. (I read something about a "graphic painter?" no theory what that is?) I think there's things out within that are easier than stencils for polka dots...

One of the keys to mixing patters is that they eye wants a place to "rest"...there needs to be a indeterminate area within the patterened room. ..so you entail plain solid color somewhere..but, if you have let's say two polka dot walls contrary each other...and you are only doing stripes on the bottom partially of the other two opposite wall..then your eyes hold a resting place on the top half of the opposite striped walls..

a moment ago a brief picture in my brain right now..nah..okay..reflect I don't like it but I'll share it..two walls opposite top partially polka dot, and bottom half solid...then the disparate two walls bottom half stripes and top half solid.that would be interesting. ..(i'm not suggeting it the perception just popped in my brain...)

Another push button is to also provide some connectivity...whether it's color, shape, vases, wall hangings, whatever...only just little "hints" I would call them that aren't obvious but they subtly connect the two pattern together..

Hmmm I'm thinking if your wall behind your bed is polka dot,,then conceivably have a bedspread that have stripes...I'm thinking the polka dot wall with polka dot bedspread would be overwhelming contained by the one area if the other area is striped..and things would be stale balanced..too heavy on one side and too street light on the other...

Don't underestimate the power of using the ceiling to tie things together either..

i found this pic (my daughter's looking at rooms...) with a polka dot wall...and she have a solid bedcover but tiny stripes at the bottom of the bedcover...(i'm sure it's not as sophisticated as you're planning..but it shows the polka dot/stripe combination in the wall/bedspread...)

Just stumbled on this..if this link doesn't work, click english, afterwards image collection..the first one was triped walls (or doesn`t matter what they are) and a small polka dot ) couch (very modern)..

You know what..definitely go filch a look cause they mix more stuff...i mean it's instrument more crisp and modern..but you can see how they mix the two...the second picture had large polka dots on the blanket...and smaller stripes contained by other places..then there's a pic that has stripes and poka dots on the bed..these are adjectives black and white (which I wouldn't want in a bedroom) but you can easily do this tangible bright with lots of colors...so visit that website and look at the figurine collection!

Have fun!

Edit again: try this link lots of polka dots..

awww poopie It doesn't matter if it's within, it matters if you like it. Do you want to look at it every single daylight for the next couple of years? I would suggest doing your walls in flat colors (maybe one color above the faux stool rail line, one color below) so that if you settle on to change your theme, it's rather easier to match bedding to it. If you are determined to do stripes and dots on the walls, I would use stencils for the dots and tape for the stripes.

If you want more accepted wisdom and examples of how to pull a room together, look at pictures in websites and catalogs. Delia*s have especially cute teen girl rooms with a lot of color and contrasting pattern. I think Ikea also has a portion devoted to teens in their inspiration pages. Target have really cute teen stuff, too. I'm not saying you have to buy from these places, but they're fun to look at for planning.
