We inherited an prehistoric wood dresser, which is about 60 years ago. It have been painted masses times over the years. We sanded it down and painted it again- hopefully for the end time.

Here is our question: Should be put some type of lacquer or something on the paint to prevent the paint from rubbing or peeling stale? We noticed when we slide the drawers within and out that some of the paint is starting to peel stale already. What can we do to prevent this?

Thank you,
Answers:    There is nothing you can do in the region of the paint coming off the sides of the drawers, They are rubbing on the inside of the dresser, layer of paint make the drawers tight. I would suggest removing the paint from the sides and bottom, (with paint/varnish remover), sand smooth and grease the drawers, this will make them slide better as ably. check hardware store for oils.
Absolutely. You requirement to put a finish on top of the paint. I don't know what type of paint or wood it is, so the best entity to do would be to go to a hardware store and bargain to the person contained by their paint section almost the best possible top coat for you to use.
