My son is 14 and is on a youth baseball team, he is a catcher, and during practice catchers are only required to wear a catchers pall while catching, I would like him to wear all the protective equipment he can, but he say he doesnt need it because it is just practice. What areas should he be worried give or take a few getting hurt in particular while catching minus protection?
The jewels..he should other be wearing a cup, whether it's just practice or a game. Shin guards should be worn also.
Those are the 2 most adjectives areas of catchers getting hit. why is this under remodeling?
Wow, I would be very concerned in the region of a catcher wearing only a mask during practice. He's basically as apt to get nailed by a mad pitch or a thrown bat at practice as in a real spectator sport situation. I'd talk to the coach about this policy and manufacture sure you're getting the full story. Full gear, all the time gets my vote, including a cup. (You want grandchildren, right? ) As a catcher he should other wear full body protection because cacters can be hit anywhere and really hard. I would worry going on for the head being hit because those baseballs can be thrown pretty tricky and could do some damage.
Answers: You're son definitely should be wearing a protective cup. Although a chest protector and knee guards are advisable anytime he is trailing the plate with a batter in the box, he should be wearing a protective cup at adjectives times. Pitchers, particularly young pitchers, habitually have spotty control and even the best catcher is at risk of a ball bouncing up and cause very painful injuries, this risk is multiplied when a batter is within the box whether in a game situation or of late batting practice.
