Ikea really won't hold up over the years. Do you really want a sleek look? Are you willing to do refinishing and/or fine art? Start going to thrift stores and places that sell used hotel furniture. 50s & 60s furniture hold contemporary lines if that's what you're aiming for. Over the summer you can strip, sand and paint to get the look you want.
The central thing to infer about is what make you happy. Sounds close to you're not into cottage or vintage, which can be fun and age well. Art Deco can also be massively sleek and shiny. Add accents of silver and mirrors along beside some black in frills. Check out different decorating styles within the books at the public library. The decorate shelves will be full of great ideas. Find a look you approaching, then join your own twist.
Do you want an nouns for display or for hanging out? Do you enjoy collections? Remember that you will mature really in a hurry from 13 to 17, so you want to have a "fudge" factor where on earth you can replace small accessories as your swallow changes -- and it will by the time you're a senior.
Also take heed about color. Which channel do your windows facade? Do you get greatly of sun? Maybe some cool colors would look good. Lots of northern lighting, which is blue, means you might want to choose radiator colors.
Decorating your own room is fun. It will consume your summer. Remember to include your parents who will be footing the bill. Keep an open mind, communicate, and don't automatically dismiss great grandma's 4 poster until you've looked at it and thought around all the possibilities -- including adjectives down the posts! Good luck and enjoy.
