OK, so my boss's dad has this antique desk that has be in his family for generation. He moved across the country a couple years ago and left the desk behind surrounded by Charlotte, NC. He recently came wager on to decide what to do with it and settled to just throw it away or "donate it" to somewhere...

The desk has be left at my house so I decided to try to find an antique purveyor in the area that may be interested contained by taking it for free, restoring it, and selling it. But as I did my research I found out the desk may be somewhat of a big deal.

It is a Cutler, roll top, with an S-curve tambour. The desk requirements some pretty serious reapir due to it's age, which I've been told is probably close to 200 years old. However, the desk overall is contained by pretty good shape with adjectives it's orginal peices.

Can anyone recommend what they think I should do? What they think the desk is worth? Who may be interested contained by restoring/buing it, etc?

THANK YOU!!
Answers:    Well I would say it could be worth over $1,000 even with need some restoring it. I think I have 2 sites where on earth you can contact them about appraisals, one place charges $125 per item to do so. The PBS lick below is for the antique roadshow site, and it has a join on that site that takes you into an area near all the names of the appraisers. On the right side of the page you can pick what type of item you want appraised and it give you all the names of the appraisers who do that type of appraising and thier email address. There is 20 appraisers that appraise furniture on the PBS site, so maybe you can use a digital camera to take pictures of the desk and email the photos and ask the appraisers information nearly the desk. They might email or call you back next to how much they think it is worth and maybe report you were it can be restored or sold at an auction.
I would go next to with what the Wolfman said, he seems to know his stuff. There is nought more beautiful than a piece of wood! All I did was to bring up an dated vanity from my clients basement, and polished it near wood polish, and it is absolutely beautiful! What an supplement to my clients room. She wanted a "work space" of her own, and it was right here surrounded by her basement! Keep it ,if you like it.or auction it on e-bay and split the money...
