Does it involve replacing? If is soiled, stained or torn then replace it. I installed laminate flooring in my livingroom and love it. I would never turn back to carpeting. It is so much easier to keep verbs. The laminate wasn't any more expensive then carpet. Don't simply replace it because it is old. It is still in polite condition. Do you still like the color. If you are just looking to spend money, you can transport it my way.
Answers: Well how good does it look or if you want to swing the color you can simply dye it with RIT dye. It will take a hour or two depending on the size of your living room but I've done it twice, once contained by my moms house and once in mine when my children spilled red kool-aid on biege carpet. After it be done everyone who came by thought I spent a fortune on new hearth rug. Another helpful tip if you go this route is to use painter tape plastic gloves and clean sponges.
