house is old but have "good bones" 4br, ens, 3 generous living areas.
first up, enjoy the plumbing and the electricity checked. it may need to be re-done.
subsequent have the insulation checked. if it's older it may not have batts contained by the ceiling or walls to protect you from the heat and the cold. hold these installed asap by a professional.
after that, enjoy planning where on earth you will have everything, if you are going to paint, if you are going to repeat the floors, if you are going to leave existing items (e.g. the shower) or if you are going to replace them.
draw a plan of your house, photo copy it a dozen times and start drawing within furniture. work out exactly where everything is going.
plan which rooms will be renovated, when they will be renovated and where on earth you will store all the furniture within that room during the renovation.

Well, that would depend on budget.
If the kitchen wishes up dating that would be a important rise.
If you are talking cosmetic... Everyone starts near the main living nouns and slowly work their way to the rest of the house. Maybe, it would be fun to spruce up the bedroom first and than move around. Nothing more critical than the space where you are to find rest and peace.
If not, start beside the main room you are going to spend most of your wake hours. New paint is rather inexpensive. It can do wonders.

I've owned homes that were both over 100 years prehistoric and the first thing I did be paint. Both homes still have the artistic wood work but it was not within great shape so I painted it all milky white. Since the houses be Victorian the color worked really well. I used neutral/pastels within the first house and darker neutrals surrounded by the second. I did all the drawing myself. Another little touch is to change out the switch plates. I found artsy foot made switch plates made by local artists but Target and Home Depot have plentifully of options that are logically priced. If you have firm wood floors refinish them. Pine floors can look really good too. If you can find rid of carpet do. It really does zilch to enhance the look of a room that a good rug won't do even better.
