I have light oak kitchen cabinet and am getting tropical brown granite countertop installed. Any color ideas for a travertine backsplash?
polished sandstone
I would suggest a tumbled marble backsplash. Try matching the color of the backsplash to the color of the floor. Stay away from chrome-looking tiles or stainless steel backsplash tiles. They will look tacky and outdated surrounded by 5 years and could bring up some questions if you ever do sell your home. Once a buyer see something they don't like, they start to see other things they don't like. We hold light cabinets and brownish/cream granite. Below is the backsplash we picked . We added some metal (bronze) elocution tiles too. I love it. Good luck with yours!
** I don't agree with limiting your design design to fit with what potential buyers may want to see if you decide to go your house someday down the road. (see Craig's answer). I've never understood why people would gild based on what others might like within 10 years. If and when you decide to sell, you can other change things and make everything indistinct. But for now - do what you like!
Answers: travertine only comes within so many colors, but with the oak and brown granite, any travertine you pick would look nice. consider using a tumbled marble, I don`t know on a diagonal with stone accent tiles. tumbled marble comes contained by several colors as well, so you will have plenty of option.
