I am renting my house and it has clothed looking linoleum flooring in the kitchen and bathroom areas. However, it have a very yellowy look to it and i know lower than it must be white because I accidently sprayed oven cleaner on it and when I wiped it up nearby was this white floor below. How can I remove what appears to be years of wax? How long will it take?
talk to the owner. the lino might be lastingly stained.
I don't know if the ammonia works but if you try it, engender sure you are in a all right ventilated nouns. I damaged my lungs using it to verbs with. The nouns wasn't ventilated. That be maybe 8 years ago. I still hold trouble. The damage is undying.
You used oven cleaner and it worked. Did it hurt the finish? Is it possible to use on the entire floor? Make sure you have biddable ventilation near it too.
Answers: This is the reccommended method for removing out-of-date wax from vinyl or linoleum flooring:
1. Mix from 1/2 cup to 1 cup of ammonia (start with smaller amount
and add more if needed) and one cup laundry detergent surrounded by
1 gallon warm hose.
2. Test in an inconspicuous nouns to see if it softens the
wax film. After several minutes, the nouns where the
solution have been applied beside a sponge mop should turn
cloudy and soften.
3. Then scrub that nouns with a stiff brush, electric
scrubber or vastly fine steel wool pads to loosen antiquated wax.
4. Repeat process in another nouns until entire floor is
stripped of wax.
5. Rinse thoroughly with verbs, cool water.
6. After drying thoroughly, apply one or two coats of wax
depending on conditions of floor, drying between coats
according to wax instructions.
