We are getting a "Bella Capri" color Wilsonart Laminate counter top installed soon. My ? is should we use this as a backsplash (would it look nice?) or should we go beside tile or a faux tile backsplash? Thanks for any opinions or thinking......
Answers: Even if using tile, I still recommend that the 4" backsplash be used. The seal between the splash and the top should be made near a color matched adhesive caulk. It can usually be purchased where on earth you purchase the top. DO NOT use cheap caulk. The special caulk will make a irredeemable water-tight seal, if installed correctly. In calculation to the splash being adhere to the countertop, a good construction cement or 100 percent silicone caulk should be used to adhere the splash to the wall. If tile is used above the splash, brand name sure that the joint between the splash and the first row of tile IS NOT grouted. It, to, should be jam-packed with a color matched flexible caulk. Anywhere that the tile is butting up against a different things (such as a wall) or where two pieces of tile come together contained by a corner, you should again make sure that a flexible caulk is used surrounded by those joints. Grout WILL crack, because the two different materials will expand and contract at different rates. If you opt out of using the 4" splash, compensate great attentuion to the joint at the countertop. You don't want dampen getting in below the tile and soaking into the back of the spanking new countertop. That is why I recommend the splash, it makes the best trademark.
Hope this helps
Yes, do use it for hindmost splash.
