Any advice? it's a beautiful apartment surrounded by a historic building. the kitchen cabinets have be painted SO MANY times, they won't close all the way (about an inch more or less)
I be thinking of using the stripping gel around the edges, and using a scraper.
Suggestions?
Since it's an apartment, we don't want to put TOO much time, effort & money into it, yet we will be nearby for a year.
Answers: Hi, maybe you could try stripping the paint with the gel freshly on the inside and outside of the hinges on the doors of the cabinet first using a small artist-sized brush while using masking cartridge around the painted area to protect it from excess gel damaging the dated finish already there and use a small wire brush or tooth brush to remove the out-of-date paint from the hardware and then if that doesn't help break into the old paint enough to spawn it close more properly, maybe the landlord could check it out for you and replace the ancient hinges for new ones.
And get sure there isn't extra paint or anything in the means of access on the inside/hinge-side edge of the door that may be blocking it and sand or scrape freshly there if necessary.
That sounds right. Have you considered buying or hiring a heat gun ? Could speed up the process for you but you will have to weigh up time v cost.
