Is it worth training as a tiler?
probally It depends how good you are
yes definetly my son did a course and eventually got his own buissness together and had work coming out of his ears.in our time everyone wants a nice tiled floor.if you are going into it as a buissness afterwards buy your grout and adheshive from a company that sells it at a discount.you can then put this on your quotes and individuals will only need to buy the tiles.buy the powder grout and mix it yourself.its a lucrative trade.also plastering because everyone is looking for a virtuous plasterer now that dry lining is out of trend. A guy I know does tile and he gets $4.50 a square foot to lay tile. Only problem is your timing. In this current economy, lots of contractors and construction artisans don't enjoy any work, except for remodeling work. So, there wouldn't be a lot of work out at hand for someone with little experience. But, during the next housing boom (it happen every 7 to 10 years), the demand will be back. That will furnish you plenty of time to perfect your craft.
Only if it is something you enjoy doing. It could serve you in good health in a job and your own home-but is it interesting to you? Pays a heck of seriously better tha typing on this board does.
Give a man a tile and he can patch his bathroom - (maybe). Teach a man to tile and he will be overcharging his customers in no time!
Yes, even if one and only to do your own tiling around the house. I had a new kitchen installed and be quoted at 50.00 per sq metre to remove the old tiles and the same to replace them near new tiles and that's with me buying them. I did the tiling myself, walls and floor, self skilled and saved 400.00 What sort of tiler do you mean, one who tiles kitchens and bathrooms, or one who tiles roofs, in good health both would make good money, but dont forget you enjoy to be trained first, good luck lol.
Answers: yes
no. polish workers will only under-price you so guess again. sorry Worth getting any trade even if you just do friends and families tiling and your own
i became a tile setter's aide 7 years ago. got paid what he considered necessary to pay me the first year, not what i wanted to product. that was hard. but 7 years then, i own half the business. it's a good trade if you stick near it and know your stuff. i can't imagine working in an organization now. Taking up any trade can be worthwhile if you enjoy working next to your hands as well as your pave the way, and if you're willing to dedicate yourself to developing the appropriate skills. Ceramic tile is fragment trade, part art, so you'll be especially happy surrounded by this field if that appeals to you. Tiling contractor Joe Ferrante was almost the best tile guy I ever met; here's a short piece about what he did and how his colleagues felt roughly speaking him. The video clip will give you a sense of how he learned the trade.
