Answers: I assume from your sound out that you are considering ceramic or other tricky surface tile. Grout is necessary because none of them are sound after they are fired. Congoleum makes a tile floor call dura-ceramic which is not really ceramic; it's a frozen tile that fits together like other vinyl tile, but the "grout" pooled is molded into the unit giving it a clay look; they're quite attractive.
