So we just finished up a small remodel on the bureau. The floors are now wood a flushed mahogany, the walls are painted a soft tan, and my husband newly finished framing the window and put up a delicate trim that is within white. The question is...I really approaching the trim and don't want to cover it up with a curtain...would a roman shade (or any other suggestions) work at hand. And I'm thinking a really pale sickly for the color...will that be ok with the colors already mentioned? And lastly if i step roman shade can that stand alone or do i need a valance or some sort of drapery to verbs it all together. I'm hoping smaller amount is more but am open to planning. Thanks...sorry so long.
Answers: roman shades are a good choice...and they dont require a valance to finish them past its sell-by date. I think a better color choice for your blinds would be a dark color similar to the floor.
Another option would be to be in motion with interior shutters, or cover merely the bottom 2/3 of the window near shutters and use frosted glass paint to do the upper 1/3.
You didn't mention the design or colours of the furniture surrounded by the room. Pale yellow would not jump with the suntan walls. Either match the wall or floor for the shades. A plain flat valance would be nice, but not essential.
