I had a room in my condo that still have carpet on the floor. I removed it hoping to be able to stain the concrete but the concrete color is not even, surrounded by some sections is a lot dark. What kind of floor can be installed directly on concrete without using a sub-floor?
pretty much any kind you want !
Vinyl, wood laminate (with the wipe under of course)
You can even just paint it ! If to be exact what you want to do!
Just be sure that you check and see if it has a sealer on it before you apply paint or epoxy resin to stick vinyl down to it!
Concrete is actually an ideal surface to lay most any type of floor, except solid hardwoods. Engineered hardwoods, earthen tile, luxury vinyl tile (and planks) are all glued to the concrete. Laminates float above the concrete, and you could other use carpet. The important factor are personal preference and budget.
Decent carpet is $3-4/ft. Laminate $6-10 Ceramic 5-10 Hardwood 8-15. Ceramic tile, press on vinyl, carpeting near attached pad, carpet near padding laid down first, and snap together or glue on Bellawood type hardwood flooring can adjectives be put down on concrete without needing a plywood subfloor. The snap together engineered wood flooring is super jammy and can be done in 2-3 hours.
Good luck!! : )
Answers: Carpet, Tile, Wood Laminate, Bamboo, Cork FLooring...pretty much anything you can suppose of.just make sure the concrete is verbs and prepped
