We bought the house in Match 2008. We are wanting to build and appendix onto the back. We dont hold the blue prints. How do we go just about getting them so that we can get a area monopoly to add onto our house?
Answers: Your local municipality might hold the original plans (blueprints) of your home, depending on the age of the home and your municipality's copy keeping policies from years gone by. If they do have the plans, in attendance will be a small fee to come by them, and some municipalities now charge a minimal levy just to hold someone check if the plans are in the city's possession.
If the municipal organization turns up empty-handed you will have to hire an architect or residential designer to draw existing plans and next add on the accessory to apply for permit.
There is a uncertainty that you can obtain the drawings from the builder or developer, if prearranged. It's a phone call worth making if you come up to know who built your home.
Good luck!
