Im looking to paint a stripped pine wood table ideally next to spray paint? Should I sand or prime the wood with anything first and what...

Should I sand or prime the wood with anything first and what kind of spray paint can I use I be looking at the plasticote stuff or car paint and is there anything I can put on it afterwards to cause is easier to clean should I spill something on it?
Give the table a light sanding near fine sand paper, clean the table beside a Tack cloth, and give it coat of primer if you intend to change the colour of the wood , if stain it and spray paint , Verathane is one that I have used in days gone by, if you purchase the high gloss sealer this will steal care of future spells. Yeh you should sand it first and apply a prime coat, watered down emulsion paint will usuallly do the position. Im not sure spray paint ment for a car is a great idea, its ment for metal not wood. Id suggest you basically use gloss and finsih it off next to a clear varnish to protect chips and scuffs!
When you right to be heard 'bare' I'm assumining it has no coating including varnishes and factory applied laquers. If it does consequently painting is not ideal.

If it is uncoated after lightly rub down with a P80 or 120 order paper and then you can paint beside ordinary wood paints that you would use for your skirting boards and doors etc. Preferably oil base. Thin the first wood primer so it soaks in. Do not use emulsion as someone suggests. If you're in the US and oil-based paints are a problem later use quality water base system used on trim and doors.
Answers:    plastikote is the best option, i wouldnt use saloon paint. they do a primer, then u can have any gloss or satin top coat and they also do a polyurethene varnish to finish it off
Looks like you've get some good suggestions all geared up.Light sand.paint...I would 2 coat it anyway...and for wood finishes I like a good outdated fashion tre-wax.it's a hardwood floor wax..just rub it on a buff it past its sell-by date by hand..but that stops simple stuff from happening...Good luck..insubstantially sand between coats..the wax buffing will give you a nice smooth finish.. yacht varnish
