I can do most of the plumbing to add a propane fireplace in my livingroom, so the up front cost is nearly $600 for the pumbling and the fireplace. If I use natural gas the tap surrounded by fee and plumbing is probably around $1500, and then I'll want to buy a fireplace. I'm also concerned about natural gas availability long term-is that right?

Answers:    Natural gas is smaller quantity expensive. Also, if you are putting in a VENTED fireplace, you can always convert from one gas to another down the flash. If you are installing VENT FREE, you cannot convert. I sell gas fireplaces.
