i want to rearrange my living room because my son is starting to climb and i don't want him falling over the staircase railing. this is what my room looks like. it have one wall that is the entire double bay fanlight, with no furniture up against it. one wall that is the top of the staircase railing next to a couch against it. one wall that is open to the dining room near a couch separating the spaces. and, one wall that is just a wall where on earth the tv is and really must stay because that is where adjectives the cables are. i have two couches, a coffee table, and a tv stand for the tv. how do you suggest i place the furniture so that i don't train up with the couch against the stair railing anymore and so that the room still flows nicely? i really appreciate your suggestions.
Answers: i presume the staircase railing is going to be a problem, there are baby barrier you can buy that are very thrifty, the problem is you would have to span an entire "wall" of the room beside them, i would suggest maybe pulling the couch out 2-3 feet from the staircase and possibly put some barriers Behind it, therefore you don't hold to worry about him getting trapped bringing up the rear the couch, (i'm guessing there is a halway with the staircase or possible it's a loft) this will save him from going down the stairs, and should give him a few feet of waggle room in case he does move about over the couch, maybe put some blankets and pillows behind it? so if he falls he have something to land on, you also have a nice little playpen, using both sides of the couch and a boundary marker at each end, this impede him from using the couch as a stepping stool for a launch to failure.
