my questions is , if i bear up the the partical board , or can i just put some type of roofing broadsheet over it the partical board then put the hardwood floor over the tabloid?

Answers:    If it is truly particle board than it is not a suitable underlayment for 3/4 solid hardwood flooring. If it is osb and the joist are 16 on center or better it will be okay.
