Apricot would be an interesting contrast to the blue that would also compliment it, being of a similar pastel shade, and would create a thaw out feel.
Alternatively, the good looks of granite is that it has other colours running through it. Perhaps you could pick out one of these colours to paint the kitchen beside.

Blue is a popular color for kitchens in this day and age, so I think you'd be right contained by style to paint it blue. A shade like "interesting aqua" (# 6220) would look wonderful beside the almond, IMHO.
Take a digital photo of your kitchen to your local True Value Hardware store and have it put on the computer. Try several view and then pick out some choices and tolerate the results on screen comfort you determine your choice.
