You might consider an Asian style...simple lines, earth colors, candle garden, sort of Zen consistency. My whole house is similar to that.
ok, to get rid of the stuffed animals, a short time ago put them in a space rucksack and put them in the attic. when you grow up and hold some kids, give the animals to them. umm, bring in the walls what ever color you want. maybe some tropical blue, green, the possibilities are endless. mabye do some dots on the walls or something. you could pick out some wallpaper instead of making a mess beside painting. it's your room, you do it how ever you want it.

As for the stuffed animals, I surmise it's ok to have one or two on your bed or your dresser. I'm 35yo and I still keep hold of a couple of white bears on my bed. The rest you can put away surrounded by the basement, or you afford them to other children in your ancestral (sisters, cousins, etc) or give them to Goodwill.
Put up some poster of cute actors/singers that you approaching, or if you want a totally grown up room, find some cool framed artwork, like this:

If you want to focus your decorate, you could pick a theme, approaching African, World Travel, Baseball (or whatever sport you like), Autumn, Dancing, doesn`t matter what, and then find pictures, curios, curtains, bedding & lighting to match that subject matter.
