I want a software that allows me to design/build my own house similar to a true architect. Thanks?

Answers:    I would suggest Google's SketchUp. It's free and very trouble-free, intuitive to use. You start by drawing a floor plan and/or just using simple 3d shapes and eventually drag and tweak until you own a 3d model of your home-to-be.

But, no, architects probably won't be using that for their final, exact measurement, detailed drawings. AutoCad would probably be the program. But if you don't entail that level of detail (you aren't an architect yeah?) it may be knotty to justify the cost and the epic time trying to learn the program. (Here is a account of costs for various version of AutoCad. It ain't cheap.: http://www.google.com/products?q=buy+aut... )

Maybe SketchUp is ok and if you want more you do SketchUp Pro for $500:

"SketchUp Pro provides extra functionality for people who involve to export their work into CAD, rendering and other professional software applications. SketchUp Pro 6 also includes LayOut, a completely new program that let you create complete presentations ¨C paper and digital ¨C from your SketchUp models."

Here are some architecture SkecthUp crust studies to see the quality of some works and how some citizens, including actual architecture firms, have used it: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dc837t...
Autocad is a great program, such as AutoCAD Architecture. It is to some extent expensive, and I have no acquaintance of a free CAD architecture program around. There are several other CAD programs out there as all right, however they may also be a tad expensive.
