I am tiling a vault shower. Even beside Durock, do I call for a vapor wall? I don't think we call for one, the other half say...
I don't think we call for one, the other half say we do. Also, when taping the seem of the Durock, not to sound stupid, but what type of compound do you use? (I am study as I go here)

Answers: Code no longer allows a vapor railing behind shower and tub walls.
Reason? It have been found to in actuality trap moisture creating a perfect breeding ground for mold.
Yes on the vapor nouns and use the thinset that you use for the walls.. Do NOT use a mastic in the shower to stick the tiles.. Use the durock tape(nylon mesh) that is sold for durock.. Even the video that looks like it sold contained by the dry wall area is a no no .. You can pre cartridge or tape as you turn.. If you tape earlier hand clear sure no lumps on walls it s hard to grind off following while tiling.. GL
