The deck was previously stained and the powerwash have taken care of that, however the railing and benches were painted and are not coming sour with the powerwash.
What type of stain can I use if I don't want to repaint the railing and benches? Do I have to use a solid stain?

Answers: You cannot stain over paint. It cannot cover it. Your best bet is to go and get a wire brush and nick as much paint off, or use a gel paint remover and remove the paint. Then you can do doesn`t matter what you want to.
