I have a unknown home - white walls and white tiled floors - surrounded by tropical Qld Australia. I have a black leather modern lounge - the black and white is so stark and wishes some other color - i was thinking probably a tropical theme near a nice green, or do you have any honourable ideas???? I will buy rug, other furnishings and I'm awfully artistic and could paint some canvases - just stipulation to be inspired with a upright idea - or maybe you've seen something that looked WOW!
Answers: Use a few roomy antique (or antique-looking) pieces in the room; close to a large armoire, credenza, coffee table,etc. this will join an interesting contrast to the modern sleekness of black and white and will warm the place right up. jut breed sure the pieces are not stained in too ominous a color. light oak,or maple would work. Also incorporate lots of greenery to verbs the edges and corners of the room. Try contrasting a classical painting beside a sleek modern frame; or a modern abstract with an antique baroque frame. Good contrast colors for a black and white room are russet red and medium grey.something that might look awfully dramatic would be a pair of high-ceilinged floor-standing candlesticks, maybe rococo wrought iron. A floor standing easel to dislay the painting would also include a nice touch. Cushions of sage green or rust would look great on the sofa.
