It depends on the finish of the paint. If the paint is flat (no shine to it at all), then wash it would be the worst thing you could do. It will just create streaks and spots, and possible remove for a while paint. If the paint has a sheen to it, use a damp cloth or a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Good luck! If the paint is an eggshell finish you can use ammonia. Mix 1 gallon and almost 1/4 cup ammonia and test a spot. You can also use this on a flat finish but use less ammonia contained by the gallon of water and test. I use this for adjectives my walls.

Answers:    I buy a new sponge mop and use thaw water and murphys oil soap...basically use the mop like you would on floors..it makes it really comfortable to scrub walls and ceilings since you don't need a stepladder if your walls aren't to tall...i have satin paint on my walls and i never hold any streaks the walls come out really nice and clean.
