How to resolve builder restrictions on investigational home? Any builders out at hand inclined to tender optional warning? I am in the progress of building a bright home in a...
I am in the progress of building a bright home in a planned subdivision near different home value level. For instance, one area of the subdiv. will enjoy $200+ homes and another will have $300+ homes.ect. The problem I am have is that we went to the design center and they are trying to restrict reliable products (cabinets, countertops and flooring) depending upon what level home you are buying. The cabinet I have picked out, they articulate can only be used within certain homes (higher level), these cabinet are not overly expensive, I saw the same ones at Lowes. I am of a mind to pay the upgrade and don't see what's the big contract. It is on the inside of my home so it has nought to do w/ conformity. I love these cabinets and own worked my kitchen design around them. I am not willing to stir with standard cabinet & a short time ago to have them redo & the builder will not give any allowences. Our building rep have offered to talk to the builder but if they don't distribute what should I do?
Why would anyone junk an upgrade?
There has to be more to this than what the builder is stating!! As a builder, I hold standard products that are what the cost of the finish inside the home is based on, and upgrades to these products. I would never cry off an upgrade!! Worth too much money!! Was it the builder or the builder's epresentative that said no!! ?
Stand your ground!! Talk with your legal representative. If you can't get the upgrade, don't tolerate them put in ANY kitchen cabinet, and ask to have the price of the home reduced by the cost of the cabinet. Once you close, get the cabinet you want and install them yourself! Be adament!! Threaten to walk away from the settlement, if your lawyer say you have that prospect!!
This is ridiculous!! I've never refused such a sweet request!! More money for me!! Better kitchen for you!! it works!! There have to be something else in the works here!!
Answers: builders aren't always that flexible...they may not be capable of do it because of their system, policy, etc. The way to draw from this done. Very simple....tell them you are going to stop. Builders are DESPERATE right now and withdrawal rates are at an all time soaring...Thats my .02 (info on builder desperation - http://stateofhomebuilding.blogspot.com/...
