First time I ever had to paint an interior of a house. Need an estimate of paint newly for the walls of a 1843 SQ Foot house. It does have 10 ft walls. Just trying to numeral out how much to buy. It is a two story if that makes a difference.

Thank you!
Answers:    What you'll have need of to do is to measure all along the walls, then multiply that number by 10 to come up beside the number of square feet of *walls* (not floor space). Read the can of paint you're thinking of using, and somewhere on it will be a coverage amount -- just about 400 sq ft for most paints -- and then divide:

(square foot of wall space)
------------------------------------ = gallons of paint
(square feet per gallon)

You can fine tune the number a bit by subtracting the square footage of window and doors from the square footage of walls, but I find I have satisfactory oopsies that doing that correction usually underestimates the amount I necessitate.
Each type of paint will have a different rate of coverage, and that coverage will be artificial by the material that's on the outside of your house, how you apply the paint (brush, roller or sprayer) and so on. The party where you buy the paint should know how to help you digit out how much of any particular paint to grasp. Be sure to buy more than you think you will want, because if you go spinal column later for the "same" color it will not meeting exactly.
