How much would it cost to lay hardwood floors and then to finish them? If location affects price, the house is in Newtown, Connecticut. Thanks.
I am thinking between $3-6/square foot. I would definetly get several estimates. Wood should be in pennies, the finished products as well, the only variables are the labor and your gut premonition. good luck.
Wood flooring actually varies surrounded by price greatly depending on the manufacturer, style and finish of the floor. If you're having it installed I would read out you would start out looking in the $6/sf range (probably more within the Northeast where you are).
You can get an engineered wood floor a moment or two cheaper, which baiscally is the same as a wood floor except the hidden portion fo the wood is made of cheaper things and the top is a real wood veneer.
Answers: The price of hardwood floors vary by the type and quality of the wood used.
While there are copious expensive brands, I found a very nice oak, 3/4 inch thick and baords going on for 2 1/2 inches wide, that was prefinished at Menard's for $2.50 a squarefoot. We installed them ourselves - VERY EASY - and a year following they still look great and we get compliments all the time.
Your best bet it to shop around at a mixture of times a year and find the best deal for you in the style of wood flooring you close to best. It does pay off contained by the long run to shop around during the year as prices fluctuate and discounts help alot when ordering profoundly of wood.
