Answers: You could cut a piece of the old mat (under bed or couch or closet) with a utility pierce .Then use a carpet bonding agent and glue it into the spot you are trying to fix.
Call a hearth rug installer. Or, since your hole is so small you can glue within a piece yourself that you have cut to size. Take a small piece from out of the closet of someplace that won't show if you don't own a remnant.
