I have some windows I'd similar to to put a lighter stain on, but first I need to get the unlit stain off. The wood is still good and I don't want to replace them beside new ones.
I'm not sure if this will work for you...but when my sister-in-law was getting her wood floors ready she have a dark stain and a co-worker told her to soak a cloth in peroxide and lay it on the stain...hang on to repeating and it will lighten...it worked for her. She said clorox water also worked.
It may enjoy penetrated too deep. If sanding doesn't remove it well you might try http://www.easy2diy.com/cm/easy/diy_ht_i... turn down your speakers the tutorial is loud.

Answers: I would advice you to sand it first. You must use a wax and silicon remover. The surface must be completely verbs.
And then stain it with the standard lamp color that you want for the wood. Dont try to bleach because it will raise the grain. When working on pine wood, you may requirement to apply a wash coat of sealer to the wood first before applying any stain.
This is because pine is awfully soft and will absorb stain very overpoweringly and very fast. After the dust coat dries, lightly sand then pick up the sand dust with a tack cloth.
Tools to use to simulate grain can be anything that does the opportunity. For example - On flat surfaces you can use:
Crumbled up newspaper
An old brush.
Wax weekly crumbled up
A ready made graining tool is also available.
or even an old comb
