I'm putting up one of those hangy things from IKEA for my son. Very handy for cuddly toys, but the darn thing won't stay up. I hold used all kind of solutions - but most of the heavier duty Rawplug plasterboard fixings won't work with a hook.
The most recent solution is a heavy-duty ceiling hook. Yippee I thought - this is for hanging much heavier stuff, so the cuddlies will be secure at last... but it requirements to be screwed in to a truss.
How on earth do you find the support? (Have already tried knocking on the ceiling and listen to change of nouns!) Hope someone has the answer...
Answers: shift upstairs ..lift up mat ..see which way the floorboards run ..the joist run contrary way ..immediately knowing which way they run start at side of room ....first joist should be close to wall ..after the joist will be set at every 16 inch centres (400mm) should be natural after that
Use a stud finder (special electronic device you can buy for about $20)
