About 7 years ago we took out a skylight window due to leak. We replaced the area near new cedar shakes, next to the promise from our contractor that they would eventually match up to the elder shakes which had blackened/greyed over time. 7 years following, they have greyed a bit but are no where on earth near equivalent the other shakes. It's the first thing you see when you drive up our lane and it's a genuine eye-sore. We are trying to sell and would appreciate any counsel.
Answers:    Pull the newer ones and put them on the back slopes or other areas that are not as perceptible. Then use the aged ones to fill within the areas that are most visible from the street. The other odds is to change a integral slope on one side and save the discards to use for repairs on the other slopes. The gray color difference is not as adjectives if you can't see both slopes at the same time.

If that don't do it, you will stipulation to remove the whole roof and install a latest one.
