What is the best way to remove the "popcorn" stuff bad of the indoor ceiling? I've also heard it call cat litter. Does it tear up the drywall also when you remove it? My house be built in 1986, if that make a difference.
Scrape or wetsand it off. It is one and only sprayed on plaster.
I hold the same type of ceiling- and I would love to know the answer also.
Someone told me I could just grind it off, but it really can't be that unforced
Answers: If there is a home depot in the neighbourhood you, they sell several items that can produce the job easier-still messy, but easier. They get rid of a liquid that you spray on the ceiling to assist remove the texture. They also sell a nifty little device that you can hold within your hand or mount on a pole-it is a significant scraper with a square "hoop." The "hoop" holds a plastic sack (like the kind from Walmart or the grocery store) and as you rake the device across your ceiling, the texure is removed and "falls" into the plastic sack. The spray is about $10 and the scraper device is $20. I haven't tried any, just saw the products and thought they be kind of cool. If you running out up using the spray, let me know how it works. Removing texture from ceiling and walls contained by the bedroom is my next project coming up-after removing mat, but before installing wood flooring.
