We have a room to be precise approximately 11 x 12 and serves as our guest room and home office. It have 1 window, indeterminate carpeting, and beige walls. The furniture is a cherry stain. The curtains are burgandy sheers, and the comforter set is burgandy and suntan. It is very ominous - how can I make the room come across lighter?
Answers: Cherry furniture looks outstanding against either ashen blue or yellow (yellowish gold). I would paint the walls any color and buy new curtains and bedding.
If you can't afford that right very soon perhaps you can hang up blinds and leave the curtains pulled to respectively side, allowing the light to come contained by.

White or cream throw pillows would lighten it up. You could also use white/cream paraphernalia like candles, art on the walls, etc.
