I'm in Oklahoma. I own amatuer experience painting interior. I loved it and want to persue it professionaly but don't know where on earth to start. I need as much info as possible please.
you need to contact your state's license laws. Here contained by Nevada you do have to be a contractor to conduct business of sculpture. You do have to take classes and pass a examination and obtain insurance.
I would achieve on board next to a painting company. Start from the bottom doing prep. You will swot something new everyday. Work your path up. Then get your license. Experience is what will bring in you good money contained by the long run. Do a good assignment and you will have referral for life. Half as*'n it and research as you contract jobs will contribute you a bad term quick. You requirement to learn as much as you can almost all aspects of fine art, including product knowledge. I would suggest research tape and texture as powerfully.
P.S. You also have to show work history of self a painter for past 6 years. With reference. That is this state. You need to check Ok.
not sure what features of license you mean. Business license, contractors' license, or what. Unlike electricians, painter aren't certified on a national level, unless you be set to something like a journeyman rank.
Okay, back up. To do work for anybody, you collectively have to own a business license, which is a local government issue. Cost? roughly $50- $500 or more
Along the same lines, if you want to paint for a living contained by house or commercial construction-type work, you will have to find a contractor's license, which usually requires some schooling to learn legalized issues, contracts, liability and bonds, insurance, and business finances, among other issues like lavish disposal, workman's comp, job site safekeeping, employer duties and requirements, IRS mandates, and others. Cost? Schooling, exams and certifications, fees, bonds, etc; promising $5,000 to $15,000, maybe more.
If you simply want to become a journeyman painter, the best and easiest method is to join an apprenticeship program spnsored by your local painters' coalition; if not that, later a similar exercise sponsored by the AGC (Associated General Contractors (non-union)), both of which, allow you to get certifications while you work. technically speaking, to catch to journeyman level, you will receive instruction contained by painting (paint types, solvents, spray, brush, roller, coatings, rough and finish technique, problemsolving. Also cartridge and texture work, as per drywall finishing. and Wallpaper. The full journeyman layout. Personally, I stopped after the painting portion be completed, simply because tape and texture did bore to death me, nor did wall paper.
As for job, New construction is on the skids right now, but if you know a contractor that does semi and custom homes, amybe you can step to work with him or her and cram the ropes.
If you are good ample to pass for a painter, try working for local affairs of state in parks, public works, services maintenance. Doesn't remuneration really great at first, but it gets better, is steady work, and the pension are usually way better than the private sector.
If you cannot exceed as a painter, then try entry as a skilled trades PA. that way, you can cram painting, woodwork, cabinetry, drywall, tape and texture, finishes, HVAC, a/c, electrical, and more, afterwards use the combined skills to start your own maintenance company, or acquire sidework jobs going. after a while as a skilled trades supporter, you'll likely carry the chance and senority to move up into the journeyman trades smooth of your choosing.
Besides this, some communities are inundated with graffiti, so even in that, maybe they want a guy similar to you to start a program and eradicate graffiti off private and public property.
So you enjoy a lot of choices contained by Oklahoma, or wherever you want to live.
One final thing, adjectives civil service jobs (working for the organization, school district, public-owner marine company or utility, post office, state, county, city, etc.), may require an exam. In the local library or on amazon (buy it if you cannot check it out) have comparable civil service exam practice books that you can study up on and figure out how to properly answer the question before the material deal.
They don't manufacture up exams using new information; no, the entity take the questions out of a book close to the one you'll study. not all question, just some. In other words, it pays to know how to bring the test, not neccesarily a complete expertise of the subject matter, in recent times enough closeness with the subject to ace the interview.

Contractor license is done on a state to state basis, at hand is no national licensing regulatory board for painter.
According to the Contractor's License Reference Site (a link to their site comes from the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America website which would seem to be to give credibility to this site) the state of Oklahoma is one of the states that does not require resident painter of their state to have a contractor's license to paint inwardly the state of Oklahoma.
