How can I cause a quilt? I am tired of using a dust cover and want a lightweight spread for my king bed.? ...

Answers:    They best thing to do is manufacture a duvet cover. Use and old quilt or buy a plain white one at walmart on mart. If it has some gross design on it it wont matter because your going to cover it. You can use a king flat sheet if you want to clash the sheets you have immediately or sometimes you can find really pretty designs on sheets and for the amount of fabric you acquire its sometimes cheeper. Any way calculate the width and length of the bed and next measure from the lip of the bed to where you want the duvet to stop. Double that number and append it to the length and width plus 1/2 inch on adjectives sides for seem alowence. Be creative when choosing the yard goods you can sew a few pieces together to make the size you have need of or you can also use two different fabrics that cordinate by color. You can sew on buttons or iron on pictures of your clan by printing them onto iron on paper using the computer. Any design you find online can be copied and added to your stuff. At this point decide which side will be your top and fold the periphery on both pieces of fabric a 1/2 inch pin and sew a straight stitch for a hem you can also use stitch whichery (a loving of tape when ironed it bonds 2 pieces of yard goods for a no sew project). Then cut a piece of fabric double the extent of the duvet and 6 inches wide. Fold this front to front and sew around adjectives edges leaving a small hole so you can turn it right side out. Turn it out and hand stitch the small hole closed. Iron this flat. Now sew it to the inside of one of the pieces where we hemed. To do this procession it up with the right side of the stuff along the edge we hemed and pin it. Now sew a straight stitch adjectives the way across. Fold this rim toward the inside of the duvet and iron the seem. This is for the flap at the top to cover the extension of the quilt inside. Its really easy to receive this it should only embezzle an hour start to finish. It only sounds and looks difficult. Now place the two pieces of stuff right sides together and pin. If you did it right the flap will be on the outside at this step. Starting at a top corner sew a straight stitch on all sides except the top. Now gross a zigzag stitch adjectives a long the raw edges you purely sewed or paint a fabric epoxy resin on the edges to keep them from unraveling when wash. Now turn it rightside out and iron the seems flat. Almost done! Now you own the opption of adding buttons or or ribbons to close the top and hold the quilt inside the duvet. I really like the channel the ribbon looks when the bed is made and the quilt is folded over. It looks so pretty!. Just add a length of ribbon on both sides more or less 8 inches long every 4 to 6 inches along the edge of the duvet. I Cut the ribbon straight on the side I will sew and insubstantially singe the edge near a lighter. Then I sew a square and then an x surrounded by the center. This looks neet and holds strong. Try using a contrasting thread when you do this it looks really cool. Then I cut the free end at a diagonal and singe that snake as well to preserve it neet. Good luck this project is really easy and so inexpensive. At walmart they own tons of fabric for a dollar a patio. If you use the fabris tape for this instead of sewing it you hold to stitch the ribbons on or they dont hold very ably. If you want to get fancy you can join a satin edge or lace or ruffle at the stage when you stitch both pieces togetther. Just sandwich the edging you want between the two pieces of textile with the snake lined up to the edging of the fabric. The ruffle or satin that will show when right side out requirements to be facing in ward toward the center of the duvet. Now put contained by your quilt tie the bows and your done. Then you can make pillows and shams to meeting exactly the same method just next to different measurements.
why don't you use a sheet, or a light blanket instead
