We are in a house that have stairs leading to an upstairs bedroom from a short corridor. There isn't really room to place a normal door that swings accessible and shut, so we are looking for unique design in direct to close it off when needed. Can you recommend or direct me to what would work out best?
Try bi-fold closet doors, they are assured to install and come in a range of widths.
Use shutters beside a lock on them.
Use heavy draping stuff.

Use a pocket door system that slides into the wall. They are not vastly hard to install. Simply ring up a contractor to come do it for you.... that way it is done briskly and painlessly... and it really doesn't cost much for one door to be put in.
