Well if you like poetry, perchance try and print out your favorite poems in different fonts and put them in frames and swing them. Or maybe even stencil one with paint onto your wall. You could even draw a mural of stuff you similar to to do on one wall. Just think of everything you like to do and incorporate it into your room. No one else will hold the exact same likes and dislikes as you so that will be what makes your room exceptional.

As far as patterns go, look for a quilt with a cool pattern and copy that somewhere surrounded by your room. I have a striped bedspread so i took a blue from it and painted adjectives my walls that color and then on one of my smaller walls I copied the stripe pattern.

You could also try to form scrapbook picture frames by making a scrapbook page full of memories and put it in a frame. That way you will bring a unique picture and it will remind you of times you had next to your friends and family.
Do a musical them like paint music log on the wall and for the chair rale the bottom half you could do piano key and just make your room look close to you. 1st thing you could do is maybe evolution the light to a different spot so things r more noticable and get some stuff that cheers you up surrounded by there.
Answers:    I'm redoing the guest room/my work room, so this is what I'm doing. I like like mad of the things you said you liked, so hopefully this will help you a touch. =]

I painted my room Lagoon Green, which is teal-ish, and I'm putting dark hardwood in. I found these really cool weak pen-drawings and pastel framed portraits in our attic that I'm putting on my wall. I found an old 60's oil lamp also that I'm hanging in the corner (It's really cool).

My room is really really small, so I'm getting rid of the futon and putting surrounded by a murphy bed (the kind that folds up into the wall) with a twin mattress that be also in our attic.

That's basically what I'm doing. I enjoy other small details I need to figure out. I'm making a trip to Goodwill to find more ripened stuff. I found a cardboard cutout of Charlie Chaplin, and an old dresser. I obviously LOVE out-of-date stuff. You should find something you love and put it everywhere. It doesn't have to be fancy, just something you love and you will be relaxed with it.
draw things on a sheet of paper, verbs it to the wall with pencil and put painters cartridge around the lines. paint it with one color, like black and it will submerge out at you. paint another shape or drawing with another fav color...just get sure you use tape so you don't paint outside the lines. after it drys, peel sour tape. paint shapes around the walls in a queue or like a follow the leader string, wiggling around your room.simple but your style.
