We have a small bedroom next to windows on 2 sides and a closet on another. The bed is centered on one of the walls near a window, but it's towards a small, fenced surrounded by side yard so in that are no privacy issues. The sun does not come in that fanlight due to trees outside. I don't want the on the one wall without window or closets because my head would be right by the door and that creeps me out. (I know ... I hold issues! lol)
Anyhow, we need a brand new headboard but most are fairly elevated and the window is low (43" from the floor). I'm worried how it will look if the headboard is fairly blocking the window. Any input?
head boards come surrounded by different shapes. you should be able to find one that will fit the nouns.
Get a 'carved out' headboard - brass, metal, or wood.
The brass or other metal would also add pallid to the room.

Answers: My headboard is shorter than my fanlight, so they do exist. Call around to stores that sell bed and headboards. See if you can get some concept over the phone. Check on the Internet too.
