Our house is 105 years old and the stair okay is very slender and bends so that they box spring will not fit.

Answers:    If you can't numeral out another way to do it you could other purchase a folding box spring. It's not exactly cheap (@ $250) but it might be better than trying to cut one in partially.

Another option would be to walk with a platform bed that doesn't use a boxspring. Again, you're chitchat about shifting your furniture but it might be a better option.
