Hardwood, pergo, dogs? I want to put in hardwood floors (or seemingly hardwood, if necessary)....
I want to put in hardwood floors (or seemingly hardwood, if necessary). But I enjoy a 80 lb chocolate lab. I assume she will scratch them up. Am I right? I've also hear of this Pergo thing ... not sure what it is but is that better for dog owners?
Answers: An 80 Ib dog will really scratch a hardwood floor. If you want to refinish it next that is other an option.
On the other appendage a dog will not scratch laminate unless you buy the blatant worst grade possible. Any Pergo, Armstrong, WilsonArt, Kronotex, products or anything beside at least a 15 year warranty will not be scratched by a dogs nail.
This does not mean that it is invincible. It can be scratched by sturdy furniture, rocks in your shoes, and dropping firm things on it. Pergo also does not look as good as legitimate wood although there are some awfully attractive laminate products. It also cannot be refinished. Damaged areas can be replaced however.
If your main concern is instantaneous scratching, Pergo is the best.
what you should be worrying in the region of is the dog sliding on the floor possibly hurting or breaking something
