Hardwood floor question.? I'm having my hardwood floors re-dun and so far thy have sand...

I'm having my hardwood floors re-dun and so far thy have sand them and put a heavy heavy amount of stain on them for anyone the first time It was so heavy that it's taken fore days to dry( this seam wrong to me).

And now I can see that is blotchy ,feathery and dark spots all over,I can see where on earth thy end-it and started dragging the stain I can also see lots of ripples from the sander.

I'm having them stained a red mahogany and I want them dark but not black approaching it looks in a lot of spots.

Question is , are thy supposed to look resembling that?
And when thy put the polyurethane on it will I see them ripples in the floor?

Right now I'm not bright and breezy with my floors at all and my contractor know it,
Any information you can share with me I would appreciate I don't want to be taken for a fool , I'm paying good money for my floors and I want them dun right.

Answers:    Depending on the type of hardwood you own and the color or tone you are seeking but the stain should be applied gradually and evenly until the desired color is brought out in your wood, and adjectives excess stain should be wiped off after application so you don't own bloching{darker spots} and the color is accenting the grain of the wood! As for the rough spots, if you are not sunny with the feel of the floor or the color of the floor you're the customer and if they tried too make clear to you anything other than what you want then I would fire them! The with the sole purpose way the color of the floor will lighten up presently is by direct sunlight{yearsof} or by resanding and it sounds like they need too be anyway!I have a feeling from what you have explained that you are not getting what you want and really that is what is far-reaching and your contractor should be trying too make you happy ,because you are paying his labor, his materals ,and a percentage on adjectives that ,above and beyound cost, so he needs too make it right, its his term on your job and thats his reputation on the line! Unless he is purely a fly-bye-night fix-it -type, and then its shame on you! Hopefully laws are within place for you to have some sort of recourse I know in some states they aren't! Good luck and I hope you don't achieve burnt!
Polyurethane's only going to heighten the ripples, cuz' that's what gloss coats do.
Four days doesn't sound right for stain any, I'm not a floor guy, but I paint & you're supposed to to wipe up excess stain after a bit or it dries blotchy if at all.
If I were doing it it sounds similar to I'd be stuck re-sanding the whole mess & starting from scratch, but I'm not a right contractor, I usually care more about results than how much I procure paid for it.
Anyways, it sounds like another go by w/finer grit paper was missed, but you might want to gain another opinion from a floor guy.
Good luck.
