I am redoing the tile surrounded by my entryway and installing hardwood flooring adjacent to that. Which do I do first? the tile or the hardwood? And why? Ive have conflicting answers from installers. Also, the tile was installed directly onto the floor, no subfloor. Im sure its best to remove it (im dreading that!) and revise it properly onto plywood or any other options??? Thanks for any input.
Answers:    Remove the tile first and label sure that you have a relatively smooth surface to deal near. Some wood flooring will have a foam wad on the back of it so you can put it directly on the exposed ground. If not they clear a pad to put down first. Then start to consider and cut your pieces to fit. Its easy but time consuming. I a short time ago did my neighbors living room and dining room.
I'd do the tile before the hardwood floor because once the early set gets on any surface lacking your knowledge it will not come past its sell-by date its very unyielding to remove quick set once its dry. also I'd use a concrete board beneath the tile it absorbs any water/moisture short ruining the board.
