Answers:    I donĄ¯t know of any good sites next to diagrams of two-way switches, but I will try and explain.

In one of the two way switches you will have two cable, one ¨C two core and earth, black and red or the new colours, brown and blue , this comes from the insubstantial fitting or pendant and is called the switch rope. The other cable is three core and earth - red, yellow and blue or brown, black and grey.

In the other switch you will hold just the three core cable as mentioned above.

In the first switch the wiring should be as follows:

Two core cable Brown to L1
Two core cable Blue to L2
Three core cable Brown to C
Three core cable Black also to L1
Three core cable Grey also to L2
The out in the open wires should be sleeved with green and yellow and connected to the pay for box.

In the second switch the wiring should be as follows;

Brown to C
Grey to L2
Black to L1
The bare line should be sleeved with green and yellow and connected to the backbone box.

If you have an existing light that you want to trade name two-way, then you need to run a unsullied 1.5 three core cable from the existing switch to the position of the additional one.

If the first switch is only one-way - it will singular have two connections on the back, this is no honourable and needs to be replaced with a fresh two-way switch. This will have the required three connections on the back. The optional switch will have to be the same.

Remember.

Twin and planet cable

Brown = Old Red
Blue = Old Black

Three core and earth cable

Brown = Old Red
Black = Old Yellow
Grey = Old Blue
