We have a north facing garden.We inted to use the consevervatory adjectives year as a extension to our limited space.We prefer chalice roof as you can see the skies.But does a glass roof(double glazed) retain roast in the winter.In the summer i guess a roof vent and adherent would do the trick
Answers: Having had both, I suppose I would step for the polycarbonate. However, both are dreadful in the precipitation as the noise is horrendous, sounding as if somebody is chucking buckets of gravel over it!
I immediately have a sun lounge, the difference human being a normal, non-glazed roof but wall to wall window. This is much better for several reasons.
1. It doesn't draw from so roasting hot in the sun.
2. It doesn't acquire so freezing cold in the winter.
3. It doesn't nouns so awful in the rainfall.
4. It doesn't fill up near flies, wasps, bees etc.
Personally, I'd never have a conservatory, surrounded by the accepted modern sense, again.
A roof vent and a adherent would not be nearly enough surrounded by the summer. You would have to go all the doors and window open as resourcefully and it would still be stifling hot.
My sister had that dilemma and they advise the polycarbonate roof.its all finished in a minute really cosy in the winter and buoyant ,so you cant see the sky but it looks very nice.
